Today, we’re going to examine one of the most exciting products on offer from Seismic Audio.  The Compact Line Array is truly ground-breaking. Seismic Audio exists to sell quality gear below traditional retail prices and nowhere does that show more clearly than in our Line Array offerings.  Once, you needed semi-trailers, a massive crew and an arena-sized venue to consider line array.  That day is past.  Now, the CLA series makes line array logical and affordable options for everyone.  Let’s look at the two speaker cabinets in this series.

The CLA-2×5 is the high range and midrange cabinet.  Constructed from birch plywood in the usual line array trapezoidal shape, it measures about 1.5’ by 7” on its largest side and weighs just 22 pounds.  It’s easy to carry the amount you need, whatever your storage situation is.  The adjustable aluminum suspension is built in to the cabinet and allows angles of 0, 3, 6, 12 and 15 degrees.  Inside, it boasts two 5-inch loudspeakers with 1.5-inch voice coils and a 1 ⅜-inch titanium horn.  The entire cabinet is wired for a 16 Ohm nominal impedance making it easy to line up four of these cabinets in series for the true line array effect.

The CLA-310 is subwoofer designed for the system.  In the heart of the cabinet, you will find three 10 inch subs with 2-inch voice coils.  They can handle frequencies from 40 Hz to 500 Hz all the way up to 128 decibels.  The cabinet relies on the same birch plywood construction with a full metal grill.  What sets this subwoofer apart is the multitude of mounting options.  Combined with the CLA-T-Frame, it can serve as the top speaker and support for the lower speakers in the usual line array setup.  It also designed to be floor-stackable for smaller venues with a pole mount built in.  Using the CLA-Pole allows you to set up the CLA system in a configuration similar to traditional PA systems while maintaining the wide dispersion and focused vertical throw of a line array.
